Download the Installer

Download the latest TallyWhatsApp-Setup.msi installer from our website.

System Requirements: Windows 10 or later (64-bit), TallyPrime 2.0+ or Tally ERP 9, 100 MB free disk space, internet connection.

Run the Installer

Right-click TallyWhatsApp-Setup.msi and choose Run as Administrator. The installer:

  • Installs the Windows Service (tallywa-svc.exe)
  • Installs the System Tray dashboard (tallywa-tray.exe)
  • Registers the C# COM DLL with TallyPrime (both 32-bit and 64-bit)
  • Automatically patches tally.ini to load the TDL
  • Starts the service and tray app

TallyPrime must be closed before running the installer. Restart Tally after installation completes.

Activate Your License

After purchasing, you'll receive your license key at your email from license@variantstudio.in. It looks like:

TWA-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

To activate:

  1. Look for the TallyWhatsApp icon in the system tray (bottom-right of taskbar)
  2. Double-click it to open the dashboard
  3. Go to the License tab
  4. Paste your key and click Activate

The license is bound to one PC. If you change computers, contact license@variantstudio.in to transfer it.

Load the TDL in TallyPrime

The installer automatically patches tally.ini, but verify it's working:

  1. Open TallyPrime
  2. Press F12 โ†’ Advanced Configuration
  3. Look for TDL Configuration and confirm the TallyWhatsApp TDL is listed as loaded

The TDL file is installed at:
C:\Program Files\TallyWhatsApp\tallytdl

If the TDL is not loading automatically, add it manually:

  1. In TallyPrime: F12 โ†’ Product Features โ†’ TDL & Add-On
  2. Set Load TDL files on startup to Yes
  3. Enter the path: C:\Program Files\TallyWhatsApp\tallytdl
  4. Press Ctrl+A to save and restart Tally

Connect WhatsApp

TallyWhatsApp uses your own WhatsApp account โ€” no API or extra charges.

  1. Open the TallyWhatsApp dashboard from the system tray
  2. Go to the WhatsApp tab
  3. A QR code will appear
  4. On your phone: open WhatsApp โ†’ Linked Devices โ†’ Link a Device
  5. Scan the QR code
  6. Dashboard will show Connected โœ“

Keep your phone connected to the internet. TallyWhatsApp runs as a linked device โ€” your phone doesn't need to be on the same network, just online.

Send Your First Message

You're all set! Try it now:

  1. Open a Sales Voucher in TallyPrime
  2. Make sure the party has a mobile number in their ledger
  3. Press Alt+W (or the WhatsApp button in the voucher)
  4. The invoice PDF is sent to the customer's WhatsApp instantly

Tip: Works with Sales, Receipts, Payments, Ledgers, Credit Notes, and Debit Notes. You can customize message templates from the dashboard.


Troubleshooting

Service not starting after installation โ–พ

Open the dashboard tray icon โ†’ Fix Issues. This runs 7 self-healing checks automatically. If the service still doesn't start, run net start TallyWhatsApp in an Administrator command prompt.

TDL not loading / Alt+W not working in Tally โ–พ

Confirm TallyWhatsApp service is running (green dot in tray). Restart TallyPrime after the service starts. If still not working, manually add the TDL path in F12 โ†’ TDL & Add-On as described in Step 4.

QR code not appearing / WhatsApp not connecting โ–พ

Open the dashboard โ†’ WhatsApp tab โ†’ click Reconnect. If still stuck, click Reset Session (this wipes the local session DB and shows a fresh QR). Re-scan with your phone.

License key shows "already activated on another PC" โ–พ

Each license key works on one PC. Email license@variantstudio.in with your key and we'll transfer it to your new machine within 24 hours.

Messages not being sent / stuck in queue โ–พ

Check the Queue tab in the dashboard. Messages are rate-limited (min 30s between sends) to prevent WhatsApp bans. If items are stuck as "dead", click Resend. Make sure WhatsApp is still connected.
